Texila Warriors stretched University of Guyana cricket team to super overs
GEORGETOWN, Guyana – University of Guyana ‘A’ Team claimed victory over Texila Warriors with 52 for the loss of 5 wickets in a friendly 8-over between the two medical fraternities.
The event heated up on Saturday at the St. Stanislaus Sports Club Ground, and although the Warriors were in great shape they failed to capitalize on several opportunities provided by the opposing side.
At the end of the 8-overs Texila Warriors were 49 for the loss of 4 wickets. Nonetheless TAU could be proud of its Warriors especially David Yesudass, Nishanth Kumar, Love Kumar and Naveen Malik who displayed commendable prowess at bowling and batting.
Not to be outdone, Dr. Akwo and Mr. Kishore kicked off in a friendly mixed game between Dr. Akwo’s Team and UG’s Doctors Team. The score was 3 – 1.
To round out the day students also participated in other sports activities including 3-legged race, buns eating competition and eat anything competition.
It’s fair to say that the doctors from TAU and UG are in healthier shape after a day of friendly competition.

Texila Encourages the Evacuated Indian Students from Ukraine
Texila American University (TAU), one of the reputed Medical Schools in the Caribbean, has introduced the Credit Transfer Availability for the students who pursue Medicine & Nursing programs. This implies that even if the students have completed their first year of Medicine & Nursing in other Universities, they can advance their education at TAU.

TAU has Introduced the Behavioral Science Programs Completely Online
TAU comes up with the School of Behavioral
Science that deals with the study of human behavior via observations and
experiments. The program is completely offered in online with a convenient
schedule for the applicants.
Several specializations in the School of
Psychology considered include Applied Psychology, Counseling Psychology and

Medical Ethics in Bachelor Degree of Medicine
Keeping in mind the importance of ethics in medicine, the Association of Health Universities in India has decided to forward a proposal to the Medical Council of India (MCI) regarding the inculcation of professionalism and ethics in the MBBS course which would enhance the medical practitioners in pursuing the relevant degree. It is to be noted that though ethics was a part of medical education previously, no examinations were conducted as a part of assessments.
The third conclave of Vice-chancellors of Health Universities of India, hosted by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences was held recently with regard to the proposal. It had turned out to be a highly debated session wherein Dr Venkatesh D, the Director of MS Ramaiah Medical College stated “We had done a survey on students some years ago. We realized they come to medical college with high ideals. Though the ethics was taught in the beginning, there were no assessments to validate them. Also most of the universities which taught ethics could not impart them into real-terms. A proper knowledge in ethics would help a medical practitioner to enhance the healthcare service rendered to the society.

MagisterChirurgiae, (abbreviated as M.Ch) is a Latin originated word inferred as Master
of Surgery. It is an Academic Post Graduate Degree awarded for a professional

Texila American University launches New Innovative Journals
One of the milestones in the academic expansion of Texila American University (TAU) is the launch of four informative academic journals on their E-Journal website (EIJASR). These journals are

2) South American Journal of Public Health, Vol – 2, Issue – 1
3) South American Journal of Clinical Research, Vol -1, Issue – 1
4) South American Journal of Academic Research, Vol – 1, Issue – 1
All these journals cater to the different areas in the field of education and research. TAU had previously launched the first volume of South American Journal of Medicine and South American Journal of Public Health six months back and this time it has launched the second edition of these journals.
The first publication had few international authors and editors, but this time TAU has gone a extra mile to ensure that there are more number of international authors as well as editorial board members. The Journal of Medicine caters to those articles and findings related to internal research that are interest to the medical community and academics.
The Journal of Public Health contains case studies, capstone project articles and article reviews, related to organization outcomes, mental health, substance abuse, alcohol, etc. In addition the South American Journal of Clinical Research consists of articles, case studies, article review related to Clinical Research.
The South American Journal of Academic Research is the first multidisciplinary journal started by TAU. This journal contains high quality original articles, article review, case reports related to economic, social studies, sociology and non-scientific researches.

Texila American University’s recent Annual Cultural Evening a success
HAILING from 35 countries, the students of Texila American University recently celebrated their differences and the opportunities that the diversity has created for students, faculty, and staff.
Last month, on December 22nd, the University hosted an Annual Cultural Evening at the National Cultural Centre, which showcased a wide range of cultural performances including classical and traditional dance, music, skit, mime, pageant show, etc. representing the traditions.
The show turned out to be a cultural extravaganza, which received wide applause and positive responses from the audience consisting of guests, parents, students and the public.
Pro-Chancellor of the University of Guyana, Dr. Prem Misir was the guest speaker at the event. He was among other distinguished dignitaries who distributed prizes for the toppers in academics, sports and cultural events.
The event started with the National Anthem at 17:30 hrs and by the time the programme ended, more than 25 colourful shows had been presented; shows to do with everyday life in diverse nations and the dressing styles of people in all walks of life were tastefully shown not only through dance but also their ever important pageant shows.
Texila University has celebrated 50 years of African-American achievements at the university, honouring the vast accomplishments of African- Americans over the past half-century.
A statement from the university said: “Educating students to achieve excellence requires our consistent focus on recruiting and retaining a diverse student body, faculty and staff. ‘Welcoming to all and hostile to none’, it’s a phrase we aspire to live by on our campus.”
The university noted that creating a welcoming environment where people are open to learning from one another lays the foundation. “We grow through conversations and experiences with people who have different beliefs and come from other places, cultures, and backgrounds,” it said.
The university also indicated that “by showing respect and finding common ground, we set the stage for the free exchange of ideas and the pursuit of knowledge and intellectual curiosity.”
